NEED YOUR PRAYERS FOR MY DAUGHTER

My daughter Patty is bipolar and is taking Lithium which is used to treat and prevent episodes of mania in people with bipolar disorder (manic-depressive disorder which is a disease that causes episodes of depression, episodes of mania, and other abnormal moods). Lithium is in a class of medications called antimanic agents. It works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain.

Dehydration in patients taking lithium salts can be very hazardous.  So it is very important to drink water.  It is also very important to take medication as directed by your doctor.  Needless to say she didn't do that.  She was to take 3 tablets a day ( breakfast, lunch and dinner), but she was taking all 3 tablets at the same time.  This can cause an over dose of the medication.  Overdose of Lithium toxicity may occur in persons taking excessive amounts either accidentally or intentionally on an acute basis or in patients who accumulate high levels during ongoing chronic therapy. The manifestations include nausea, diarrhea, confusion, lethargy, seizures and coma. Other toxic effects of lithium include coarse tremor, and kidney failure.

Well, my son Kenny was over her house on Sunday while he was there she started to become lethargic, was getting confused, and started shaking.  He picked her up and brought her to the hospital without telling where they were going.  Patty is extremely skinny, so when he brought her to the emergency room, they thought she was a cancer patient.  Finally she was checked in and her kidney were starting to fail.  They hooked her up to the IV to get fluids into her.  Being bipolar, she was ripping out the IV, that she need to be restrained.  Her kidneys are now stabilized, and she will physically be okay, but we need prayers for her bipolar and extreme depression.
