Psalms 51

CREATE IN ME A CLEAN HEART, O GOD

For the choir director: A psalm of David, regarding the time Nathan the prophet came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.

¹ Have mercy on me, O God, 

because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion,
blot out the stain of my sins.
² Wash me clean from my guilt.
Purify me from my sin. 

³ For I recognize my rebellion;
it haunts me day and night. ⁴ Against you, and you alone, have I sinned;
I have done what is evil in your sight.
You will be proved right in what you say,
and your judgment against me is just. 1 ⁵ For I was born a sinner -
yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. ⁶ But you desire honesty from the womb, 2
teaching me wisdom even there. 

⁷ Purify me from my sins, 3 and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. ⁸ Oh, give me back my joy again;
you have broken me -
now let me rejoice. ⁹ Don’t keep looking at my sins.
Remove the stain of my guilt. ¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me. ¹¹ Do not banish me from your presence,
and don’t take your Holy Spirit 4 from me. ¹² Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and make me willing to obey you. 

¹³ Then I will teach your ways to rebels,
and they will return to you. ¹⁴ Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves;
then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness. ¹⁵ Unseal my lips, O Lord,
that my mouth may praise you. ¹⁶ You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one.
You do not want a burnt offering. ¹⁷ The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. 

¹⁸ Look with favor on Zion and help her;
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. ¹⁹ Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit -
with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings.
Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar. 

If you just started reading the Bible and have not yet asked Jesus into your heart to become your Lord and Savior, all you have to do is:

A - ADMIT YOU ARE A SINNER

Roman 3:23 

For everyone has
sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.        

Acts 3:19 
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

B - BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS GOD'S SON AND ACCEPT GOD'S GIFT OF FORGIVENESS FROM SIN

Acts 16:31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household"

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life, No one comes to the Father except through me."


Ephesians 2:8-9 ....8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

C - CONFESS YOUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD

Roman 10:9-10, 13  

9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart the God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

If you are ready to ask Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior, you can pray a simple prayer like this to God.

Dear God, 

I know I have sinned and my sin separates me from You. I am sorry for my sin. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me so my sin can be forgiven. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. God please forgive me. I ask Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior and Lord. I will obey You and live for You the rest of my life, Thank You in Jesus' name I Pray.
