My Homemade Meatballs

Ingredients:

1 ½ lbs lean ground beef or turkey
tablespoons minced garlic

teaspoon Italian seasoning, oregano, basil, parsley, cilantro, Mrs Dash Garlic & Herb
1 pouch onion soup mix
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, divided
1 cup Italian style breadcrumbs

1 egg

Meatball Sandwich Ingredients:

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/2 cup tomato sauce (I use roasted garlic & onion)
2 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

Directions:

Pre-heat oven 400º (Flavorwave oven No pre-heating necessary)

Spray large skillet with cooking spray and set aside.

Meanwhile, in large mixing bowl, stir in half of the breadcrumbs, and all of the above ingredients. Mix until evenly blended, then form into 1 1/2-inch meatballs. Roll meatballs in the rest of the breadcrumbs and place in the large skillet.  Cover and keep turning them until meatballs are brown over medium high heat.

Place meatballs on paper towel to drain off any excess grease.

I made enough for 2 nights, so I placed half in the refrigerator for tomorrows meatball calzone.

The other half I placed back into skillet and added tomato sauce.  Simmer over medium low heat for 5 minutes.

(You can also freeze half for another time. Just place drained cool meatballs in plastic wrap (push the plastic wrap all around the meat so no air gets in. This will protect it from freezer burn.) and I also place in freezer bag to freeze. Now you made your own frozen dinner for another night. Just defrost and pop in oven or microwave until hot!)

Place split hoagie rolls in oven, flavorwave oven or toaster until lightly toasted.

Place meatballs with sauce on toasted hoagie rolls and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over them.  Place them back in oven or toaster for about 1 minute or until cheese is melted.

This is just one delicious, juicy, cheesy meatball hoagie!

Total cooked meatball serves 6 - 8 depending on how many you use in hoagies.

Enjoy!
