JOYCE MEYER - Dealing with Sin - Pt 1

Mark 6 NLT

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

6 Jesus left that part of the country and returned with his disciples to Nazareth, his hometown. 2 The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, “Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?” 3 Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary[a] and the brother of James, Joseph,[b] Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.

2 Corinthians 8:5

5 They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do.

THURSDAY 9/5/13 - Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life -a Daily Devotional - Complaining Is a Sin!

THURSDAY 9/5/13 - Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life -a Daily Devotional - Complaining Is a Sin!

Before you read what Joyce has to say, I must confess this to everyone.  I too complain and mostly about the silliest things.  I complain when I'm trying to do something and I forget to do something else first and now have to walk back to do it.  That may not sound like much to you, but since walking is hard for me...I complain.  I complain when I get the drops-es.  You all know what I'm talking about.  You pick something up and you drop it, sometimes not only once, but twice or three times.  What about your physical problems.  I really don't complain about my leg, but I do complain about my eye problem or my about my back hurting when I'm making dinner. Since I'm standing, I don't know why, but it starts to hurt between my shoulder blades.  I also complain when my husband doesn't do what I want him to do, like wash a dish and make sure he gets all the food off.  Or when something falls on the floor, not to leave it there, pick it up.  Now I've been married for 26 years and this has been going on this long.  Therefore, what makes me think he's going to change, so why complain?

What do you complain about?  I hope you will think about this as I have.   I am truly going to try to stop myself when I find myself complaining,  and praise God at that moment for all the good that is in my life.  What about you?  Will you try to stop complaining and praise God instead?

Mark 5 NLT

Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Man

5 So they arrived at the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2 When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil[b] spirit came out from a cemetery to meet him. 3 This man lived among the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain. 4 Whenever he was put into chains and shackles—as he often was—he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones.

James 4:2

2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

Mark 4 NLT

Parable of the Farmer Scattering Seed

4 Once again Jesus began teaching by the lakeshore. A very large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat in the boat while all the people remained on the shore. 2 He taught them by telling many stories in the form of parables, such as this one:
3 “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed. 4 As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it.5 Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. 6 But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t
